Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and the Gran Desierto de Altar. Lies 52 km (32 mi) north of Puerto Peñasco, off Highway 8. In the Gran Desierto de Altar you can go sandboarding, a sport similar to snowboarding and surfing, which involves riding a board down sand dunes. The biosphere reserve offers designated trails for mountain biking.
