MOUNTAIN CLIMBING

 

In Puerto Peñasco?s surrounding areas you can explore a region marked with craters and volcanic cones, making it the ideal area for mountain climbing.

 

Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and the Gran Desierto de Altar. Lies 52 km (32 mi) north of Puerto Peñasco, off Highway 8. In this region you?ll find an interesting volcanic field that has three large peaks, including the Santa Clara Volcano, which is 1206 meters (3,979 feet) above sea level. The area, a truly exciting region to go mountain climbing, is marked with irregular geographic formations like the Elegante crater, which measure 1600 meters (5,280 feet) in diameter.
